Threads is up to 400 million monthly active users
Meta's social media platform, Threads, has surpassed 400 million monthly active users, according to a report by Fast Company. The platform, which is a competitor to X (formerly known as Twitter), has seen a steady increase in user growth since its launch in 2023. Threads reached the 300 million mark in December 2024 and the 200 million mark in August 2024, indicating a brisk pace of user acquisition. Data from Similarweb also showed that Threads' mobile performance is drawing closer to that of X, with Threads posting 115.1 million daily active users on mobile compared to X's 132 million. Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, had set a goal of making Threads "a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it." While the platform still has progress to make in terms of users and features, it has already added core features such as direct messaging and an increased emphasis on external links.
