Anker’s power bank recall is now backed by the government

Anker, a leading power bank manufacturer, is recalling nearly 481,000 power bank models due to reports of fire and explosion incidents, as investigated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The affected models include A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689, which were sold at various retailers, including Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, Walmart, and TikTok, between August 2023 and June 2025. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled power banks and visit Anker's Recall Page to verify the product serial number and register for the recall. The CPSC also warns against simply throwing away the affected battery packs, as they present a greater risk of fire and require proper disposal. This recall comes amid a record year for product recalls and safety warnings issued by the CPSC, with the Trump administration seeking to replace several commissioners on the panel.
