Third of children do not play outdoors after school, UK research finds

The University of Exeter study found that a significant number of children in the UK do not engage in outdoor play after school or on weekends. The research, which involved 2,500 children aged seven to 12 from the Born in Bradford programme, revealed that one-third of children do not play outdoors after school, and a fifth do not do so on weekends. The study highlighted the positive impact of outdoor play on children's social and emotional development. The findings suggest a need to encourage and facilitate more outdoor play opportunities for children to support their overall well-being.
