Jack Draper, the British No. 1 and fifth seed at the US Open, faced a challenging first-round match against qualifier Federico Agustín Gómez. After a 53-day break from competitive tennis, Draper had to dig deep to secure a four-set victory, 6-4, 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-2. The match was physically demanding, and Draper experienced on-court sickness during the third set. Despite the difficulties, Draper managed to recover and progress to the second round. Compatriot Cameron Norrie also advanced after his opponent, Sebastián Korda, was forced to retire.
