Anthony Volpe injury: Yankees shortstop playing through partial labrum tear, not expected to need IL stint

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe is playing through a partial labrum tear in his shoulder, manager Aaron Boone revealed on Thursday. Despite the injury, Volpe is not expected to require an IL stint, and the team is hopeful he can manage the issue through the remainder of the season. Boone stated that Volpe's injury was discovered during a recent MRI, but the team believes he can continue playing without the need for a stint on the injured list. The 22-year-old rookie has struggled at the plate, batting just .212 with a .645 OPS, but the Yankees remain committed to his development and believe he can contribute despite the injury. Volpe may undergo a more comprehensive MRI at the end of the season to further evaluate the extent of the tear in his labrum. For now, the Yankees' focus is on managing Volpe's workload and keeping him on the field as they push for a postseason berth.
