‘A big shame’: Chris Woakes could miss rest of fifth Test with shoulder injury

Chris Woakes, a 36-year-old English bowler, suffered a shoulder injury while fielding on the opening day of the fifth Test against India. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, and Woakes is scheduled to undergo a scan on Thursday evening. England could be left a bowler down for the remainder of the match, as Woakes was the only fit English bowler to have played in all five games of the grueling series. The incident occurred in the 60th hour when Woakes landed awkwardly while trying to keep the ball from crossing the boundary. He was visibly in pain and had to be led off the field with his arm in a makeshift sling. The team's management will assess Woakes' condition overnight, and his participation in the rest of the Test match is uncertain.
