Liverpool seal £26m Leoni signing and see him as potential Van Dijk successor
Liverpool have signed 18-year-old center-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma for an initial £26 million. Leoni has signed a six-year contract with the club and is seen as a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk. Other clubs, including Newcastle, were interested in the 6ft 4in defender, who has played for Italy's under-18 and under-19 teams. Leoni is expected to go straight into Liverpool's first-team squad.
