Trump directs Pentagon to 'use all available funds' to pay troops during shutdown

President Trump has directed the Pentagon to use all available funds to pay US military personnel during the ongoing government shutdown. This move is intended to ensure that troops receive their scheduled paychecks next week, despite the partial shutdown. The directive comes as the impasse between the White House and Congress over funding for a border wall continues, leading to the shutdown of several federal agencies. However, the president has made it a priority to ensure that the military is not impacted by the political stalemate. The order will allow the Department of Defense to tap into alternative sources of funding to meet payroll obligations, ensuring that active-duty personnel, as well as National Guard and Reserve members, continue to receive their regular compensation. This move is seen as a attempt to maintain morale and support among the military during the shutdown.
