Microsoft Paint is finally getting project files with saved layers

Microsoft is upgrading its Paint application in Windows 11, adding more advanced features to transform it into a productive tool. The latest improvement is the ability to save project files with a .PAINT file extension, allowing users to save layers and resume their work later. Additionally, the Pen and Brush tools are getting new opacity sliders for adjusting transparency directly on the work surface. Paint already supports dark mode, transparency, layers, and AI image creation. While these new features are currently being tested in the Windows Insider Program, the availability of the .PAINT file extension in the stable release of Windows 11 is still uncertain.
