Yamamoto shines as LA Dodgers oust Reds to book NLDS date with Phillies

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-4 in the National League Wild Card game, securing a spot in the National League Division Series (NLDS) against the Philadelphia Phillies. Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a standout performance, striking out a postseason-high nine batters and pitching into the seventh inning. Outfielder Mookie Betts tied a Dodgers' club record with three doubles. The Dodgers broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning, allowing them to advance to their 20th NLDS appearance, including 13 consecutive appearances. This will be the first postseason meeting between the Dodgers and Phillies since 2009, when the Phillies beat the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
