Kohler’s new toilet camera provides health insights based on your bathroom breaks

Kohler, a leading home appliance manufacturer, has introduced the Dekoda, a toilet-mounted health tracker designed to provide insights into users' health and wellness. The Dekoda is a sensor-equipped device that analyzes the content of the toilet bowl, using spectroscopy to observe the composition of the user's waste. The collected data, which includes information on hydration, gut health, and the presence of blood, is then shared with the Kohler Health app, which is available for iOS and will soon be released for Android. The Dekoda is designed to be easily installed on most toilet bowls using a clamping mechanism, and it features a magnetic charging pad and a wall-mounted remote with a fingerprint sensor to ensure privacy. The data collected by the Dekoda is encrypted and can be accessed through the Kohler Health app, which requires a subscription fee of $6.99 per month or $70 per year for single users, or $12.99 per month or $130 per year for a family plan. The Dekoda is part of Kohler's initiative to "turn the bathroom into a connected, data-informed health and wellness hub," providing users with valuable insights into their health and potentially detecting early signs of medical issues, such as the presence of blood in the waste.
