Spotify is doing more to address AI 'slop' on its platform
Spotify has announced policy changes to address AI-generated music and spam on its platform. The company is working with DDEX to develop an industry standard for AI disclosure in music credits, allowing artists to specify the use of AI-generated vocals, instrumentation, or post-production. Spotify is also introducing a new impersonation policy to provide stronger protections against AI voice clones. Additionally, the streamer is launching a new spam filter this fall to identify and remove tracks engaging in practices such as mass uploads, duplicates, and artificially short tracks. Spotify aims to achieve more transparency for listeners and protect artist identity through these new policies, as it recognizes the challenges posed by the rapid advancements in generative AI technology, which can be misused by "bad actors and content farms to confuse or deceive listeners."
