Nintendo spoils The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's big character reveal days before release

The Nintendo Cinematic Universe adds a major player The week before Nintendo and Illumination's release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the film's creators have decided to reveal one of its major cameos early. The reveal will certainly reignite speculation that the "Nintendo Cinematic Universe" encapsulates more than just Super Mario characters (and Pikmin). On Thursday, Nintendo and Illumination confirmed that the rumors were true: Fox McCloud from the Star Fox games will appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It's currently unconfirmed just how big Fox's role will be in Mario's new adventure, but he sure looks like a major character. In a teaser released on the Mario movie's Instagram account, we see Fox McCloud posing dramatically in front of his Arwing while an Ukiki looks on in adoration. Let The Super Smash Bros. Movie rampant speculation begin! Er, continue! On Friday, there was another big reveal: Fox McCloud's voice actor is none other than Glen Powell (Top Gun Maverick, Hit Man). Powell revealed his role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in a video in which he's dressed up as McCloud. Fox McCloud made his debut in the original Star Fox released in 1993 for the Super NES.
