Don’t trash your Windows 10 PC yet! Microsoft might offer a trade-in value

Don’t trash your Windows 10 PC yet! Microsoft might offer a trade-in value

Microsoft's support for Windows 10 is set to end on October 14th, 2025. However, users can extend the security updates for an additional year through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. After the end of support, continuing to use Windows 10 without updates poses security risks. While upgrading to a newer PC with Windows 11 is an option, this could lead to a significant amount of e-waste from discarded Windows 10 devices. To address this, Microsoft appears to be offering a trade-in program for old Windows 10 computers. The trade-in program is not yet officially announced, but evidence has been found in the ESU Assistant. The program allows users to exchange their Windows 10 PCs for money or recycle them, if the device is not accepted for trade-in. The trade-in value will depend on factors like the age and hardware components of the device. This trade-in program seems to be Microsoft's attempt to encourage users to upgrade to Windows 11 while also reducing the environmental impact of discarded Windows 10 PCs.
