Japan’s Akazawa to Visit US, Push for Start of Lower Car Tariffs

In a trade-related visit, Japan's top trade negotiator Ryosei Akazawa will travel to the United States this week. The primary aim of the visit is to urge the U.S. government to implement the lower tariffs on cars and auto parts that were agreed upon in July. The negotiations in July resulted in an agreement to reduce certain tariffs between the two countries. Akazawa's trip is intended to push for the actual implementation of these lower tariff rates, which have not yet been put into effect. The visit comes as both nations seek to further strengthen their economic ties and trade relationship. By advocating for the agreed-upon tariff reductions, Akazawa hopes to facilitate a smoother flow of goods and services between Japan and the U.S.
