LG’s newest OLED gaming monitor hits an incredible 720Hz
LG has unveiled a new OLED gaming monitor that can reach an incredible 720Hz refresh rate, though it comes with a trade-off - the 27-inch panel needs to drop to 1080p resolution to achieve this blistering speed. At its native 2560x1440 resolution, the monitor can still deliver an impressive 540Hz. LG calls this technology "Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR)," which allows the monitor to switch between high resolution and high refresh rate modes. Additionally, LG showcased a 45-inch 5K2K panel with a 5120x2160 resolution, effectively a larger version of the current ultrawide format. The company also demonstrated a fourth-generation 83-inch OLED TV panel with a significant boost in brightness, reaching up to 4,000 nits. These new panels are expected to appear in monitor designs from LG and its industrial partners starting in 2026, and some may be showcased as early as CES in January.
