The program is part of the American AI Exports Program, created last year by an executive order from President Trump, to bolster the U.S.'s position in the global AI market. Tech Corps members will be tasked with using AI to address issues related to agriculture, education, health, and economic development in participating host countries. The program offers 12- to 27-month in-person or virtual placements, with benefits such as housing, healthcare, and a living stipend. While the program is framed as benefiting host countries, it also serves to secure the U.S.'s position in the rapidly expanding global AI market, which faces growing competition from China.
