Indian doctors remove parasitic foetuses from baby's stomach

In a rare medical case, doctors in India successfully removed two parasitic foetuses from a 20-day-old baby's abdomen. The baby, born with a condition known as "fetus-in-fetu," had two malformed foetuses inside her stomach, a rare congenital disorder occurring in about 1 in 500,000 births. The surgical team, led by Dr. Jatin Shah, performed a complex two-hour operation to extract the parasitic foetuses, which were attached to the baby's vital organs. The foetuses, measuring about 7 cm and 5 cm in size, were removed without any complications, and the baby is now recovering well. Fetus-in-fetu is a rare condition where a malformed foetus becomes enclosed within the body of its twin. This case highlights the exceptional medical expertise and advancements in India's healthcare system, which were able to successfully manage this complex and unusual condition.
