Thibaut Courtois says La Liga plan for match in Miami ‘distorts the competition’
Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, has strongly criticized La Liga's plan to host a match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami on December 20th. Courtois argues that this decision "distorts the competition" and that La Liga "does whatever it wants because it suits them," ignoring the protests from players. The fixture would be the first La Liga match held outside of Spain and the first European league match to be staged abroad. While UEFA has "reluctantly" approved the plan, Real Madrid and other Spanish top-flight teams have expressed their opposition to the move.
