Microsoft is finally improving Windows 11’s dark mode
Microsoft is finally improving the dark mode feature in Windows 11, with the latest preview build including more darkened UI elements. The file operation dialogs, such as those for copying or deleting files, now have a dark theme, though the buttons are still light-colored. This update is a work in progress, and Microsoft has not officially announced any improvements to the Windows 11 dark mode. However, these changes could indicate a broader overhaul in the upcoming 25H2 update. Despite the progress, the Control Panel, Run prompt, and file properties UI are still stuck in light mode, and it took Microsoft several years to add a dark mode to File Explorer in Windows 10. In comparison, Apple has had a consistent dark mode in macOS since 2018, and a new Liquid Glass redesign with a greater focus on translucency is expected later this year.
