Double golden joy as Australia’s swimmers triumph at world championships

Australia's swimmers celebrated a successful start to the swimming world championships, with the women's and men's 4x100m freestyle relay teams both clinching gold medals. Olivia Wunsch led a late comeback in the women's event, while Kyle Chalmers helped the men's team reel in the United States to secure the victory. Despite the joy of the relay triumphs, there was also disappointment earlier in the night when Australian swimmer Sam Short narrowly missed out on gold, finishing second to German world record holder Lukas Maertens in the 400m men's freestyle event.
