Qi2 25W wireless charging is coming to iPhones and 'major Android smartphones'
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has announced the latest version of the Qi2 wireless charging standard, called Qi2 25W. This new standard offers up to 25 watts of power delivery, a 66% increase over the previous Qi2 platform. The Qi2 25W standard is set to be adopted by iPhones and major Android smartphones, providing faster and more efficient wireless charging. While newer iPhones already use the Qi2 standard, this is a significant development for the Android platform, as most Android phones have not been Qi2-certified in the past. Several other products, including power banks and chargers, have also been certified for the Qi2 25W standard. The WPC states that there are "several hundred" devices in the queue waiting to be tested and receive official certification, though the specific Android models are yet to be revealed.
