Apple isn't making any carbon neutral claims with its Series 11 smartwatch
Apple has released the Apple Watch Series 11, but the company is no longer making claims about the watch being carbon-neutral. This change comes after a regional court in Frankfurt, Germany, ruled that Apple's previous carbon-neutral claims for the Apple Watch Series 9 and 10 were unfounded and violated competition laws. The new Apple Watch Series 11 is now made with 40% recycled content, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 100% recycled titanium or aluminum in the case. The watch is also manufactured using 100% renewable electricity like wind and solar power across the supply chain. However, Apple is not making any specific carbon-neutral claims for this model. The article suggests that Apple may still face some skepticism about the accuracy of these environmental claims, as the company has been known to selectively choose statistics for marketing purposes. While Apple does claim to be carbon-neutral for its global corporate operations, the company has not extended this claim to the new Apple Watch Series 11.
