Ombudsman sees off Delacroix to secure International Stakes success
In the International Stakes race, Ombudsman, the favorite, won the event after Birr Castle, a 150-1 pacemaker, had built up a substantial 20-length lead early on. Ombudsman eventually caught up and won the race by three and a half lengths. This victory comes amid a summer of unusual Group One races, including Qirat's surprise 150-1 win in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. Ombudsman, a high-class and improving four-year-old, is now targeting the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe as his next challenge.
