Morecambe make Ashvir Singh Johal the first Sikh to manage a professional British club

Morecambe have appointed Ashvir Singh Johal, a 30-year-old, as their new manager, making him the first Sikh to manage a professional British club and the youngest manager in the top five tiers of English football. This appointment comes just 48 hours after the investment group Panjab Warriors completed its takeover of the National League side, which had been at risk of expulsion from the league. Johal expressed his hope to play a role in ensuring that such a situation "never happens again" for the club.
