Call-recording app Neon goes offline after security flaw uncovered
Neon, a call-recording app that pays users for access to audio data, which it then sells to AI companies, has been taken offline after a security flaw was uncovered. TechCrunch reported that the flaw allowed any logged-in user to access other accounts' phone numbers, call recordings, and transcripts. Neon's founder, Alex Kiam, told TechCrunch that he took down the app's servers and began notifying users about pausing the app, but did not inform them about the security lapse. The app went dark shortly after TechCrunch contacted Kiam. Neon has not provided a timeline for if or when the service will resume, or what additional security measures it may implement.
