Emma Raducanu beats Maria Sakkari and the heat to reach Washington last four
Emma Raducanu, the British tennis player, has reached the semi-finals of the Washington Open after defeating Greece's Maria Sakkari in a quarter-final match. Raducanu won the match 6-4, 7-5, overcoming the challenging weather conditions where the temperature reached 36°C. Despite losing the opening game and a service break, Raducanu was able to break back and eventually take the first set. The second set was closely contested, but Raducanu managed to maintain her composure and secure the victory, booking her place in the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time.
