Switch 2 Mockup Creator Ordered To Pay Nintendo Damages

In January 2025, Genki showcased a Switch 2 mockup at CES, leading Nintendo to sue the company in May over unauthorized accessories. The legal battle has now ended with a settlement, where Genki will pay an undisclosed amount of damages to Nintendo. Genki had asserted that it was not bound by any legal document, but the judgment states that the company has been hit with a permanent injunction, preventing it from using Nintendo's logos, designs, and certain terms. Genki will still be making accessories for the Switch 2, but it must make it clear that these products are unlicensed and not endorsed by Nintendo. Additionally, Nintendo won a separate case against Ryan Michael Daly, who was ordered to pay $2 million in damages for selling modified Switch consoles that could play pirated games.
