Nursing unions call for UK to back prosecutions for war crimes against health workers

Nursing unions and medical leaders have called for the UK government to back the prosecution of war crimes against health workers. This comes as a report shows a five-fold increase in the number of health workers killed in conflicts over the last decade. The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and the British Medical Association (BMA) have urged the prioritization of prosecuting those responsible for targeting health workers, patients, and medical facilities under international criminal law. The leaders argue that the UK government should fully support the International Criminal Court (ICC) in its efforts to hold perpetrators accountable for these atrocities.
