San Diego Padres land All-Star closer Mason Miller in trade deadline blockbuster
The San Diego Padres made a major move at the MLB trade deadline, acquiring All-Star closer Mason Miller and pitcher Adrian Sears from the Oakland Athletics. The Padres sent top prospect Leo De Vries to Oakland in the deal. In a separate move, the Padres traded pitcher Shane Bieber to the Toronto Blue Jays. Meanwhile, All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa has rejoined the Houston Astros, and the New York Yankees acquired two-time All-Star reliever David Bednar. The Mets also acquired outfielder Cedric Mullins in a trade.
