Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Gets Hair-Raising New Tech Next Month
Nvidia has announced that its RTX Hair feature will be added to the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on September 4. This new technology, which uses Disjoint Orthogonal Triangle Strips (DOTS), will improve the lighting and shadows in the game's hair rendering, making it look more realistic. The feature will use linear swept spheres to create a naturally round geometry, helping to avoid self-intersection when casting shadow and reflection rays. This will allow the digital version of Harrison Ford's character to have a fuller head of hair. The RTX Hair feature will be available to RTX-50 series GPUs, and Nvidia has stated that this is a significant step towards rendering high-quality digital humans in real-time. The update will be part of the game's expansion, The Order of Giants, which will see Dr. Jones embark on an expedition to uncover the secrets of the Nephilim Order.
