Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon chips offer slight power-up for budget smartphones
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest mobile platform, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, aimed at more affordable smartphones and devices. Compared to its predecessor, the new Snapdragon chips offer a 7% performance improvement in both the Qualcomm Adreno GPU and Kryo CPU, with a higher peak CPU speed of up to 2.7 GHz. The Gen 4 specs also include support for WFHD+ displays with a 2,900 x 1,300 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, as well as the Low Light Vision feature for better video quality in low-light situations. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 retains features like the ability to take 200-megapixel photos, Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ Technology, and support for real-time translation and transcription. However, Qualcomm has not yet announced any phone makers who plan to use this new chip.
