Venus Williams, at the age of 45, fell short in her bid for her first winning streak since 2019. She lost to 24th-ranked Magdalena Frech in the DC Open, with a score of 6-2, 6-2. Despite her victory in the first round against 35th-ranked Peyton Stearns, making her the oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match since Martina Navratilova in 2004, Williams was unable to extend her winning streak.
