Liverpool’s WSL match at Aston Villa postponed after Matt Beard’s death
Liverpool's Women's Super League (WSL) match against Aston Villa has been postponed following the death of their former manager, Matt Beard, on Saturday. Beard had two spells as the manager of Liverpool, winning back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014 during his first tenure. After leaving the club in February, he had since coached at Boston Breakers, West Ham, and Bristol City. Beard rejoined Liverpool in 2021, leading the team to promotion back to the WSL in his first season. The club announced Beard's passing on Saturday, and the decision was made to postpone the upcoming fixture against Aston Villa as a mark of respect.
