Wyze’s new palm-scanning door lock has a second, backup battery

Wyze, a tech company, has announced the launch of its new smart door lock called the Wyze Palm Lock. The lock can be opened by simply hovering your open hand over it, using a palm-scanning technology that identifies users through the veins in their hands. The Palm Lock is priced at $129.98, making it more affordable than similar palm-scanning locks on the market. The lock offers multiple unlocking options, including physical keys, access codes, and a mobile app. It has a primary battery that can last up to six months, and a secondary backup battery that can keep the lock powered for up to two weeks. If both batteries die, the lock can be temporarily powered using a USB-C port. The Palm Lock uses Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to lock and unlock the door remotely or through voice commands. It also incorporates a gyroscope to detect the door's angle and movements, and can automatically lock the door or provide alerts if it's left open.
