Cheltenham woos back racegoers with cheaper Guinness and return of Ladies Day

Cheltenham Racecourse is making changes to improve the "raceday experience" and attract more spectators. The festival's second-day crowds have declined by 34% over the past three years, with the 2022 event seeing the lowest attendance for any day since 1993. To address this, Cheltenham is introducing several measures, including cheaper Guinness at all meetings, the return of an official Ladies Day during the festival in March, and a slight reduction in capacity across the four-day event. These changes aim to enhance the overall experience for racegoers and reverse the recent decline in attendance. The announcement comes as Cheltenham looks to the new jumping season, which is set to begin on 24 October. The festival, one of the most prestigious events in the sport, will run from 10 to 13 March 2023.
