Apple Intelligence tries summarizing news again after botching BBC stories
Apple has reintroduced Apple Intelligence-powered notification summaries for news and entertainment apps in the fourth iOS 26 developer beta. The company had previously disabled the feature after encountering issues with some headlines. The new beta includes a splash screen that allows users to select "News & Entertainment" as a category to be summarized. However, Apple warns that "Summarization may change the meaning of the original headlines" and that "summaries may contain errors." Additionally, the beta includes updates to the Liquid Glass design elements, with Apple continuing to experiment with the translucency of these elements. Apple is expected to release a public beta of iOS 26 later this month, around July 23rd, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
