Lily Yohannes on developing at Ajax, moving to Lyon, and a ‘surreal’ US debut

Lily Yohannes, an 18-year-old US international, has had a remarkable start to her professional career. Born in Virginia to Eritrean parents, she moved to Europe at the age of 10 when her father accepted a job in Amsterdam. Yohannes quickly joined the youth academy of Ajax, where she became a starter before making her international debut for the US at the age of 16. This summer, Yohannes made the move to European powerhouse OL Lyonnais, where she scored a goal and was named player of the match in her debut, a 3-1 win over Olympique Marseille. Yohannes' fast-paced progression and success at such a young age are a testament to her talent and hard work, and she continues to make strides in her professional career.
