Court Orders Man To Pay Nintendo $2 Million To Settle Modding And Piracy Lawsuit

Nintendo has won a $2 million payout from a lawsuit against Ryan Michael Daly, who produced products designed to help pirate Nintendo Switch games. The district court in Washington found that Daly's actions caused "significant and irreparable harm" to Nintendo. As a result, Daly is permanently prohibited from circumventing Nintendo's security or digital rights protection systems, and any devices used in his modding business must be seized and destroyed. This is the latest in a series of stringent penalties Nintendo has pursued against individuals involved in piracy and modding, including the infamous hacker Gary Bowser, who was ordered to pay $15 million to the company.
