LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has a few key differences from other LEGO video games. The biggest difference is that instead of being able to freely swap between dozens or even hundreds of characters, you will only be able to play as seven Characters in Legacy of the Dark Knight (though each character can obtain multiple Outfits). Each Character also has their own unique gadgets and skills, which can be utilized both in combat, and are vital to solving the game's many puzzles.
