Verizon buys Starry to expand its wireless broadband footprint
Verizon is acquiring the smaller broadband provider Starry in a deal expected to close by the first quarter of 2026, subject to FCC approval. Starry specializes in delivering high-speed internet to multi-dwelling units (MDUs) and urban communities using its proprietary millimeter wave technology. This acquisition will help Verizon expand its wireless broadband footprint across the country, as Starry's technology allows for efficient internet delivery in complex urban environments. With more than 100,000 customers in major cities, Starry's expertise and technology will be integrated into Verizon's operations to accelerate its fixed wireless access capabilities.
