NRL grand final sets TV ratings record and eclipses AFL for first time in decade

This eclipsed the AFL grand final, which had an average audience of 4.18 million. The NRL match was a nail-biting affair, with the Broncos emerging victorious 26-22. In total, 6.4 million Australians tuned in to watch the NRL grand final at some point during the Channel Nine broadcast, the same reach as the AFL grand final. This marks the first time in a decade that the NRL grand final has outperformed the AFL grand final in terms of TV ratings.
