Faustino Oro, an 11-year-old Argentinian chess prodigy, has achieved a significant milestone in his career. By winning the Legends and Prodigies tournament in Madrid with an unbeaten 7.5/9 score, Oro has earned his first grandmaster norm and reached a Fide rating of 2509, making him the first under-12 player in chess history to be rated 2500-plus. Oro's impressive performance has set him on the path to potentially breaking the record for the youngest grandmaster, held by Abhimanyu Mishra. The young chess player has several upcoming tournaments, including the World Cup in Goa, the European Club Cup in Greece, and a closed tournament in Argentina, where he aims to earn his second and third grandmaster norms and become the youngest grandmaster ever.
