Battlefield 6 Won't Have Ray Tracing In Order To "Focus On Performance"

Battlefield 6, the upcoming installment in the popular Battlefield franchise, will not feature ray tracing at launch or in the near future. According to the game's technical director, Christian Buhl, the decision was made to prioritize performance and optimization. The team wanted to ensure that the game runs smoothly on a wide range of PC specifications, including those using the minimum recommended specs or below. Buhl acknowledged that a "meaningful percentage" of players during the Battlefield 6 beta were using lower-end hardware. As a result, the focus has been on optimizing the game for these users rather than implementing ray tracing, which would likely have a more significant impact on performance. The game will also require Secure Boot on PC, a decision made to prevent cheating and make it easier for EA to detect and address such issues.
