Play Acclaim Showcase Is Coming In September

Acclaim, a revived version of the iconic '90s video game publisher, has announced its first-ever Play Acclaim showcase event on September 10. The event will unveil the company's new titles after more than two decades. The teaser video for the showcase features classic Acclaim games like Mortal Kombat 2, NBA Jam, and Terminator 2, hinting at the possibility of reviving these franchises. Acclaim CEO Alex Josef stated that the company aims to "take the energy and chaos that made Acclaim unforgettable and channel it into something new." The new Acclaim, which was announced in March, promises to "support indie developers and reignite classic franchises." It remains unclear which, if any, of the licensed games from the teaser will be a part of Acclaim's future. The company's leadership team includes WWE, TNA, and AEW veteran wrestler Jeff Jarrett, along with a partnership between several entertainment and investment firms.
