El Paso flights grounded for 10 days for ‘special security reasons’

The Federal Aviation Administration has temporarily closed the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, from February 10th to February 20th, citing "Special Security Reasons." The closure applies to all flights in and out of the airport, within a 10-mile radius, though flights above 18,000 feet and Mexican airspace are unaffected. A similar closure has been announced for the nearby Santa Teresa, New Mexico airport. The FAA has not provided any further details or explanation for the unprecedented move, which is expected to disrupt air travel in the region.
