Windows 11’s dark mode is getting more consistent in File Explorer

Microsoft is making improvements to the consistency of the dark mode feature in Windows 11's File Explorer. Previously, some actions like copying, moving, or deleting files and folders would display light mode dialogs even when dark mode was enabled. Microsoft is now addressing this issue, ensuring that these dialogs also have a consistent dark mode appearance. Additionally, the company is working on improving the dark mode experience in other areas, such as progress bars, charts views, confirmation and error dialogs, and prompts for skipping, overriding, and file selection. Microsoft first introduced a dark mode option in Windows 10 in 2016, and it has taken nearly a decade for the company to focus on making it more consistent across the operating system. While these changes are a step in the right direction, there are still several areas in Windows 11, including the Run prompt, file properties UI, Control Panel, and Folder Options UI in File Explorer, that Microsoft will need to address to provide a truly consistent dark mode experience.
