A decade of despair: Manchester United’s long winless run at Anfield

In the past decade, Manchester United has struggled to win at Anfield, the home of their bitter rivals Liverpool. The last time a United manager earned three points at Anfield was when Louis van Gaal's team defeated Liverpool 1-0 in early 2016. The only United victory in the past ten years came when Marouane Fellaini's header led to a Wayne Rooney goal in 2015. This victory lifted United to fifth place, while sinking Liverpool to ninth. However, despite winning the FA Cup that season, Van Gaal was sacked, and Jürgen Klopp, who had just taken over as Liverpool's manager, signed a new six-year deal. Since then, United has been unable to break their Anfield hoodoo, with the team facing a "decade of despair" in their attempts to win at Liverpool's home ground.
