Saliba says Arsenal have to ‘prove we are ready to win’ after signing new contract

William Saliba, the French defender, has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal. Saliba, who joined the club in 2019 from Saint-Étienne, has won only the Community Shield with Arsenal so far, spending two and a half of his first three seasons on loan in Ligue 1 before becoming a first-choice player under Mikel Arteta. Saliba said he will not consider leaving Arsenal until he wins a major trophy, and admitted it's time for the players to back up their talk by delivering tangible success. The confirmation of Saliba's new contract comes despite strong interest from Real Madrid.
