Meta’s new smart glasses are coming this week

Meta, the tech giant, is set to unveil its latest smart glasses at its upcoming Connect conference this week. The company is expected to announce new smart glasses with a small display in the right lens, which can be controlled using hand gestures via a wristband. The wristband will utilize surface electromyography (sEMG) technology, which reads and interprets electrical signals from hand movements, a feature acquired from the startup CTRL-Labs in 2019. The new smart glasses are expected to cost around $800 and may be thicker and heavier than Meta's previous offerings. Additionally, Meta is rumored to be introducing third-generation Ray-Ban Metas, which could feature improvements such as better video resolution and increased battery life. While a new Quest VR headset is not expected at this year's Connect, Meta may showcase an ultra-light headset that offloads the computing power to a separate puck, which is planned for release in 2026. The company is also expected to highlight its advancements in AI technology, including integrating AI features into its existing smart glasses and the standalone Meta AI app.
